This blog discusses John 6: 1-15-Multiplication of the Loaves, and Chapters 6 & 13 of "Jesus Before Christianity"
I think the song Carly chose about love really makes you think of what the Kingdom of God actually is to you. I have always wondered what the definition of the Kingdom of God is but it seems like there is no definite answer. The Kingdom of God can be whatever you want or believe it to be. I agree with the line in the song that it is more than where we believe we go when we die. I do believe that we enter the Kingdom of God when we die but I also believe that there is a Kingdom of God present today. This Kingdom may be portrayed through love, realizing that you have it all in a time of sorrow or in a time you thought you had nothing, or through the laugh of a baby with cute chubby cheeks. I think the Kingdom of God on earth symbolizes moments of happiness and the goodness present in the world.

ReplyDeleteYes I agree with the song but to a certain extent. I think that compassion and love are the foundation of the kingdom of God but also in chapter 16 it talks about how Jesus' teaching is in order to enter the "kingdom" with the poor and the oppressed, one would have to give up all one's possessions, and deny oneself and be willing to suffer. For me, I think this is very hard to do. I like material things and i think it would be impossible to just give up everything you own. I think it’s good just to help one another through hard times or even small things like say something nice to someone. I agree with Meghan when she said that there is a kingdom of God present today, because I think that there are a lot of good people in the world trying to help others.
